Why laminate

A hard-wearing wood look at a smart price.

Modern laminate looks and feels more like real wood than ever, with a surface that’s built to take a beating.

01

Very scratch-resistant

A hard top layer that holds up well to furniture, pet claws, and heavy foot traffic.

02

Realistic wood looks

Deep, textured grain and long planks in light, natural, and dark tones.

03

Great value

The look of hardwood for less, which makes it a favorite for larger areas and whole-home projects.

04

Water-resistant options

Many newer laminates are built to handle everyday spills far better than older products.

Laminate or luxury vinyl?

Two great floors, different strengths.

It’s the question we hear most. Here’s how they compare — and we’re happy to bring samples of both to your estimate.

Laminate

Hard, scratch-resistant surface

Very tough on top, with a natural wood feel underfoot. Water-resistant rather than fully waterproof in most cases. Shines in living rooms, bedrooms, and offices.

Luxury vinyl plank

Fully waterproof planks

Softer and quieter underfoot, and the planks are waterproof. The better pick for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and anywhere water is a real risk. More on LVP.

Mixing both

Common in whole-home projects

Plenty of homes use laminate in living spaces and LVP or tile in wet areas. We’ll help you plan clean transitions between them.

How it works

What to expect, start to finish.

Laminate needs a flat subfloor. Skip the prep and you get hollow spots, clicking, and gaps — so we don’t skip it.

  1. Free in-home estimate

We measure, check your subfloor, and talk through products and layout. You get a detailed written estimate before any work starts.

  2. Removal and prep

Almost every job starts here. We remove the old flooring, then flatten and repair the subfloor so the new floor goes down right. Any leveling is itemized in your estimate up front.

  3. Underlayment

The right underlayment for comfort and sound, with a moisture barrier over concrete slab.

  4. Installation

Clean cuts at door frames and proper expansion gaps so the floor can move with the seasons.

  5. Finishing details

Transitions, stair nosing, baseboard, and quarter round, so it looks finished, not just installed.

  6. Cleanup and walkthrough

We clean up, walk the floor with you, and make sure you’re happy before we call it done.

Pricing

How much does laminate installation cost?

Every floor is different, so we don’t quote one-size-fits-all pricing. Your cost depends on the product you choose — and most of all on what’s there now and how much prep the subfloor needs.

We’ll measure in person and give you an exact, itemized estimate, so you see where every dollar goes — no surprises halfway through the job.

FAQ

Common questions about laminate.

Is laminate waterproof?

Most laminate is water-resistant, not waterproof — it handles everyday spills if you wipe them up. For bathrooms and laundry rooms, we usually recommend luxury vinyl or tile.

Is laminate or LVP better?

Laminate has a harder, more scratch-resistant surface and a more natural wood feel. LVP is fully waterproof and quieter underfoot. Many homes use both. We’ll help you choose room by room.

Is laminate good with pets?

Yes — its hard surface resists scratches from claws very well. Just wipe up accidents promptly, since most laminate isn’t fully waterproof.

Can laminate go in a kitchen?

It can, especially water-resistant products, as long as spills don’t sit. If you’d rather not worry about it at all, LVP is the safer choice for kitchens.

How long does laminate installation take?

It depends mostly on what’s there now and how much prep the subfloor needs. We’ll give you a realistic timeline at your estimate, after we’ve seen the floor.

Do you supply the flooring, or can I buy my own?

Either works. We can source the flooring for you, or install flooring you’ve already purchased. Either way, we’ll make sure it’s right for your space before anything goes down.
